Away from the turbulent rapids lies the gently flowing Chiling River that houses thousands of fishes. It is also the sister waterfall of the famous Berkelah Waterfalls nearby.

The trek up the mid-level of cascades is relatively easy while the trail that leads up to the top cascades may require a bit of jungle bashing. The summit pool, affectionately called the “Blue Lagoon”, is a beautiful greenish-blue pool with a nearby small wild orchid garden.

The base camp is usually via a 4-wheel-drive through shallow steams and rubber plantations and a short 15 minutes trek thereafter.

This area offers some pristine forest and interesting but elusive wildlife such as elephants.

Gunung Stong (1433 metres) and her seven waterfalls was ranked 5th out of a list of 10 special places for eco-tourism in Malaysia. Be rewarded by the breath taking sight of foaming water thundering down the smooth, sheer granite face of Jelawang Fall – the highest waterfall drop in South East Asia with a height of approximately 305 metres.

Located in Kelantan is a cave, Gua Ikan (Fish Cave). Its name is derived from a solitary rock that looks like a fish. To cave explorers on an expedition, part of the lure is trying to find a pot of gold believed to have been hidden during the Japanese Occupation.

The summit of the mountain consists of huge boulders and was once used by Dato Perpateh Nan Sebatang to gather Ketua-ketua Adat (Customs Leaders) to announce the future Dao Lembaga (clan chief) in 1372.

Nowadays, this mountain is frequent by locals who camp near the summit of the mountain. Gunung Datuk stands majestically at 880 metres offering trekkers a panoramic view of the surrounding towns atop the boulders, the Strait of Malacca may also be visible clear day. Visitors will be dauntingly challenged by the natural obstacles such as steep passageways, as they traverse the roots, trees, narrow paths and witness the structural changes in the forest along the trail.

After the fulfilling trek up Gunung Datuk, immerse in the peranakan culture and unwind in the town of Malacca where good food and good shopping can be found. Be sure to visit the night market in Jonker Walk for the ever bustling array of stalls.

It is also locally known as Bukit Hangus. The hill is very prominent and could be seen from the Middle Ring Road 2 travelling from Seri Gombak to Ampang. The hill could be accessed through Taman Melawati by following the Genting Klang Road which will lead to the Klang Gate Dam.

The hill, which is less than 1000 meters, is a quartz/limestone combination formation. Climbers enter the hiking trail via Kampung Klang Gates, 50 meters from the gates of the Klang Gates Dam, at the back of Taman Melawati for a quick 3-4 hours climb. The Gombak Forest Reserve and Klang Gates Dam are beside the hill. The peak offers spectacular view of the dam.

Located almost 1000m above sea level and surrounded by thick forests, the water is icy cold. Lata Berembun is located halfway up the slopes of the massive 2000m Gunung Benom which is still mostly unexplored and has seen few climbers.

The Trip to Lata Berembun chiefly consists of a 5 hour ride from Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur City Centre and a 2 hour transfer to a small town, Raub. Along the way through small towns, we stop by a coffee shop for some local breakfast before proceeding, on our 4-wheel drive, for off-road, bumpy roller coaster ride through face-smacking tree leaves & branches, 45 degrees mud slopes and a refreshing 5m wide river. We then arrive at our campsite with the roaring waterfall right smack in our face.

The waterfalls offer refreshing waist-depth crosses and slides which can accommodate 5 people at one go and slide which are like those from Wild Wild Wet!
